Rules Committee: Proposed Rule Changes That Will Steal the Voice of #WEThePeople Even More
Yesterday we had breaking news hit via FITSNEWS, "Republican and Democratic leaders in the South Carolina House of Representatives are pushing a rules change that would limit floor debate on legislation – curtailing the ability of individual lawmakers (and groups of lawmakers) to hold up bills they don’t like."
The disgusting uni-party seeks to limit the amount of amendments brought to the house floor. The amendments would have to be "pre-approved" by a representative of each side before allowing them to move forward.
This is a direct attack on our Constitutional rights as American citizens and as citizens/taxpayers here in South Carolina. This would reduce the voice of #WethePeople and would place even more power into larger government (but fewer hands). This is not how a Constitutional Republic works.
How can we be a super-majority of the Republican party here in South Carolina and have this problem? Last year, the South Carolina Freedom Caucus chose not to play by the bureaucracy’s rules. The SC House GOP threatened to excommunicate anyone from the SC GOP Caucus that refused to sign the loyalty pledge. The loyalty pledge was refused by members of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus because it placed a pledge of loyalty to party over the U.S. Constitution. This is only a tactic from the communist playbook. As a result, GOP members were removed from the SC GOP Caucus that refused to sign the loyalty pledge.
The South Carolina Freedom Caucus was then able to bring amendments forward to the SC House floor. This provided public transparency with bills that would normally have been settled behind closed doors. Yes, you are reading this correctly. South Carolina Freedom Caucus won their lawsuit and have become an officially recognized caucus within our state.
Could matters get any worse? Well, yes. The SC GOP Caucus allegedly offered up to $50k in campaign contributions to anyone signing this loyalty pledge. SC Rep. Gil Gatch was floored and asked me who told me about these details when I brought it up in our Dorchester County GOP meeting last spring. He didn't deny it. I told him I had my sources. Don't you think he would have denied it right way if it were not true?! Instead, he asked who had leaked the information because that was a closed-door conversation. Wouldn't he like to know?!
Now we are here to this day in where these members will decide the fate of moving closer to communism in the great State of South Carolina. Who is leading the charge in this destructive measure? Rep. Anne Thayer, Rep. Davey Hiott, Rep. Jay West, Rep. Micah Caskey, and Rep. Gil Gatch. The vote will be today after adjournment. Please e-mail these legislators and make your voices heard. They must know that we do not celebrate large government or communism in South Carolina, AND that we will seek to unseat them this cycle if this measure is moved forward. (Many we are seeking to unseat anyway because of their repeated tactics like this)
Also, I would ask them if they have received $50k into their campaign accounts from the SC GOP Caucus. As always, thank you for your support, and never give up. We will overcome this. Your voice and vote matter. We need #WethePeople to stand up, speak up, and show up. The involvement of our local community is crucial for the survival of any freedoms we have remaining with our Constitutional Republic.
